I'm working on a small little idle game as an inside joke for my group of friends, but the entire thing is pointless if I can't get online leaderboards functioning. I'm wondering how I should go about this - I have very little experience when it comes to web based stuff. I did a bit of digging and found this: http://www.destronmedia.com/ngm/pages/gamesync.php

As far as I can tell, it SOUNDS like what I need, but if anyone has any experience with this sort of thing and has a better idea I would really appreciate a hand. I'd really rather not learn how to do it entirely from scratch, but I'm willing to do whatever I need to to get this working.

The game has functional saves locally as of now - what I'm hoping to do is save variables to the server under user accounts (eg. log in as Qbopper from any computer and it loads my money/distance traveled/items bought) and have leaderboards for distance and money.

If you're releasing it for free and don't mind other people seeing it, you can upload it to Gamejolt and use their APIs to store things like high scores.

I actually found that a little while after posting - it's perfect, but I'm having some issues implementing the API. That's better than nothing, though.
