So... I decided to put my other entry on the back-burner so I wouldn't have to rush it for the compo deadline. I still wanted to have something done, though. Which brings me to...

(edit: just did a small update fixing a few stupid bugs..)

Instructions:

There's a bomb on the train! If it goes
under 5 miles per hour, the conductor is
done for!

So what can you do??
Pick up coal from the back of the railcar,
and bring it to the furnace in the front!
You need to keep adding fuel to the furnace
and keep the train going. But look out for
banditos! And snakes!
..and remember...
...don't let the train go under 5 MPH!




(and yes, I do consider this to be a cockpit.. I mean, you do control a vehicle.. sort of  )

Honestly, though, I didn't even realize the connection to Speed until I was about halfway through making the game. I originally wanted to have someone chasing the train, but I thought the bomb idea was funnier [size=6 pt](and easier)[/size]

Has anyone tried the game? I'd like to make sure the gameplay is balanced, and that the difficulty level doesn't isn't too steep (or too slow...)

but can I defuse the bomb or it's simply play til you die ?

Yeah, there's no way to actually "win". The object of the game is basically to get a high score. Although I didn't add online high scores or anything. I'll have to do it after the compo.

All of the sprites are acting screwy for me.  The background is all black and all the sprites have black boxes around them.

It's probably alpha related.
