I think they took this one out early for some reason. Also I like the name of the neogaf thread "it's 98 all over again" very clever

I don't understand why you think a lot of people will want to date an inanimate object in a video game, but maybe you have more insight into esoteric fetishism than I Nothing esoteric about it. That's how common brainwashing patterns work: An example for the other end, the word "streamlined" is often used to cloud something inferior and promote it as being something superior/more modern. what is happeninghave you ever seen j-snake post before

What are you referring to? Also, some key points from the talk for interested: - Multiplicative Gameplay (mechanical options can stack up) - Chemistry Engine (object state modifier/calculator) Art Related: - Art that is easy to lie - GUTTO KURU! (some special changes/violations in art consistency that give it a unique soul, as I understand it)

I've been playing a lot of Breath of the Wild recently. Of course, with my day job that means only a couple hours a night, but still.
This game is right up my alley. The open world, unfettered exploration, and unexpected elements are all coming together to make a game that I know I will finish. In the starting plateau, I was cutting across a clearing in a forest while hunting boars, and suddenly felt the ground trembling. The large, flat rock that I had just run past came to life, hoisted itself out of the ground, and started trying to kill me. I stumbled into a boss fight that I had no idea existed. And I couldn't beat him. He had too much health, and I had too few resources. I had to run away from this boss.
Now that I've been exploring, upping my resources, and expanding my stamina, I know I will eventually return and reduce that boss to gravel.

I'm a bit more lucid atm than usual, so this should be ok to talk about.
I remembered thinking yesterday I wish there were more methods of transportation. I wonder if the physics are to blame. I don't get why Link is a jack of all trades, low real, but that would have required a stat-building system, or really complicated minor gameplay mechanics, so it's not that big a deal.
I like more things about botw then I'll list but here's are some of the non-spoilery selling points: * you get the "try it" feeling, when there are a few combinations of mechanics in play, and no recommended way to use them. * there is an effect of getting lost if you don't look at your map. * you'll pick up more things than you can throw away, so it's more on the light side of wandering aimlessly, even when lost. * in accordance with the traditional Zelda gameplay, you get your stats directly from finding power ups.
Like most sources will tell you, the game isn't designed with the moderate formulas found in recent Zelda games. I'm not aware of any magical talismans or deliberate self-references, at least not yet.

I don't understand why people keep banging on about a Zelda timeline. There's an official one in Hyrule Historia, but it feels like an afterthought on Nintendo's part.
Wasn't Four Swords Adventures a direct sequel to Four Swords? Wasn't Link to the Past a prequel to Zelda 1? With all of these retcons I doubt Nintendo had a timeline in mind from the start. It feels like fans tried to create connections where there were none and Nintendo hastily connected everything to appease them.
I've always liked James Rolfe's interpretation because it requires the least number of assumptions. It's The Legend of Zelda. An oral story that's told over and over again. Minor details change with each retelling but there's always Link, a maiden to be saved and a big primordial evil to be slain.

I've personally always felt like Zelda games are just retellings of the hero's journey with its own lore attached to it. Continuity is just coincidence.

Well they had been talking timeline since the beginning, but kept messing up nd chaging things up, there is enough evidence in archive they did care, but I think with this game they will take a new stance and distance themselves more while banking on the theory culture they created. I mean this new one created a whole new events that happen LONG after OOT as a basis for their new legend and then the actual action is 10000 years after that events AND THEN the game itself is 100 years after the events .... that's master diluting there! As for timeline theory in general, it's kinda a game in itself, it's way to immerse you in the lore and use the "blank" as self expression, basically like link is a vessel for the player, the lore is a vessel to the player's imagination. And let's be frank there is at least 4 continuity that make direct sense, SS->OOt -> MM -> WW/TP (and add to ww the ds games) then ALTTP->LA->z1->z2, and you have MC -> 4sa ... how these key continuity mesh together is where the thing start to break, but they have been mostly consistent since OOT on the main series until BOTW. They seem insistent in removing ganon recently from all timeline recently (ie have definitive death). I hope the end of BOTW hint at the prepping of linkle (daughter of zelda and link, would make sense in a lore continuity and appease the fan lol).
