Nintendo created good base for future Zelda games. I really liked most of the changes in Botw. If they make another  installment in 2-3 years. I hope they create longer main dungeons and more monster variety..

yeah it's really impressive that a couple of dudes are making this for ipad, but this is so, so, so not the kind of game i'm looking for on a phone/tablet. and once it gets ported to consoles it's just a mediocre zelda clone.

I did have the time to watch it too haha. I guess I should probably tip him something since I got to see the video. Interesting take on Skyward Sword too.

I'm so sad zelda is only ever competing against itself, most copy are only good because there isn't anything else to quench the thirst lol and are on platform with zeo competition so it top by default. The main core of zelda is navigation puzzle, which most game that shared similarity (open world, swordfight) have as understate. Hence why I place mario and banjo in the zelda genre (lock and key, key upgrade, occasional combat and puzzle).

i mean, oceanhorn a nice example of cargo cult approach to designing game
every action has an unpleasant noise to it, chest opening has vertigo camera movement, its third person shooter camera on mobile device etc

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword's dungeon design: Simplistic puzzles that require an unreasonable amount of backtracking across large empty rooms.

It's not backtracking, it's understanding the lay out Tongue

HOT TAKE: story dungeons should not be expanded in a botw sequel, but completely removed. Zelda dungeons were cool 20 years ago, now theyre just  boring collections of samey puzzles themed around the same couple themes (fire, water, desert, forest, sky).

I'd love to see something with bigger towns and more NPCs tho.

EDIT: but i predict that won't happen and the series will gradually revert back to linearity and the "traditional" zelda progression.

Yeah honestly if all the work that went into the Shrines and Divine Beasts could've gone into creating more beautiful and engaging locales and deeper side quests I'd be totally content

Some people do like the "puzzle maze" dungeon formula of zelda, and given it's the only game that does that competently, that will be a big loss. We need both formula to co exist, we don't even have metroid anymore.

not even close lmao, there are plenty of good puzzle games (according to people who like puzzle games) that don't reuse the same simplistic puzzles over and over again.

I'm not talking about puzzle, I am talking about puzzle maze, the action puzzle maze genre of zeldo. Ie backtracking as a puzzle.

yeah, i'm with gimmy on this one. there really aren't many games doing that kind of navigation puzzle, and the ones that do it well are few and far between.
