If you want xcom without dice rolls, play invisible inc
Never played XCOM, but I will certainly vouch for the incredible game that is Invisible Inc.

invisible inc is an amazing game yeah. but the deterministic mechanics make it more challenging & stressful to play than xcom which is a little jankier and allows for some leeway. it's a game i admire more than i actually enjoy playing it.
Deterministic is a good word for it. It also gets bonus points for being one of the few proc-gen games that I hold in high regard, mainly because the "fear of not knowing" as it relates to proc-gen is used to great effect.

Been playing the board game Burgle Bros. which utilises this effect. Recommend.

Who's getting Splatoon 2 this Friday? I was lucky enough to get a review code, and I've been enjoying it more or less for the last week.

Salmon Run is addictive! Check out my preview here:

I'm not getting a switch until either one of two things happen:

1) I earn enough money with game development to buy a switch
2) They patch in the ability to transfer profiles from one switch to another

Watching Smash @ Evo is reminding me all over again how insane it is that Smash 4 isn't announced for Switch yet. It's such a no brainer

They tactically spread out announcement, zelda -> arms -> splatoon -> mario -> xenoblade, that's staggered schedules to always have next goal for consumer and it avoid cannibalization. Also alternate mega hit with smaller fish to benefit the constant wave of hype.

Marketing 101, they are making you surf the emotion.

I've kept sending legally very serious death threats to the creators of rabbids since the leaked promo material and I encourage everyone reading to do the same

Yeah, that seems to be it. Since we haven't heard anything about it, it might also be that they still have plans that aren't just Smash 4 Switch, though. Maybe some additional characters or something are planned, too.

There is also the case that sakurai was fed up since after brawl or even within brawl (he didn't knew he was making the game until nintendo announced it at E3).
