i can't afford a switch right now, but even if i could i would wait to see how the library pans out. so far it looks like it could be either really great or become another wii u with ~5 good games. the only exclusive that interests me so far is mario (i dont care about splatoon or arms or smash or other multiplayer gams).

Seems way too late to be another Wii U.

It doesn't have more good exclusives than the wii u at the moment. and unlike the wiiu it isn't backwards compatible (honestly the only reason i haven't sold my wii u other than zelda is that it replaces my beat up old wii from 2006.

I still have a working wii. That's still the only home console I've ever owned.

Those are good points for you and me, but the public's hype appears formidable. The Switch hasn't gone through a single Christmas yet, still has yet to get heavy hitters like Pokemon or Smash, and it's already sold almost a third of the Wii U's lifetime sales to date. I think it's too late to become "another Wii U" (unless things massively slow down, which Nintendo doesn't seem keen on letting happen).

If you don't know if there'll be games that appeal to you, I can understand that, though. It is still rather early in the system's lifespan (feels like it's been around for quite awhile).

I seriously regret buying a switch, Its literally just sat on my shelf gathering dust since 2-3 weeks after i got it.  I've actually played my gamecube more often since I've owned the switch than played the switch, lol.

Huh? The last Pokemon for 3DS sold over 3.7 million copies in its first three weeks in North America. Smash 4 sold 1.3 million copies on Wii U, and 2 million 3DS copies in 2014.

oh man, if they released a PROPER dragon quest game for the switch i would take back my hate for it.  My favorites are DQ 1-4 but I loved the PS1/PS2 era ones also.  The action rpg hybrid ones past few years have sucked though, dragon quest heros was terrible.
