Hard to believe it's finally finished!

It's been almost 10 years of development, but I'd say it's more than worth it so far.

What's the point?

this was the original Metroid 2:

this is AM2R:

It's a gorgeous remake/remaster of the Gameboy version, with a much larger playing space. It takes everything that made Metroid 2 good and gives it a modern facelift. It's breathing new life into an old classic, and that hardly seems pointless to me.

Its fantastic so far. My only gripe is that part of the atmosphere is lost a bit, but the controls and level design with all the new twists and more super metroid styled mechanics feel greaty.

Nintendo is lenient with free fan game in general. They tend to act when money is involve or when it "hurt" their franchise, the unity 3D mario stuff is the only instance where a free stuff was take down, I know off. Also online emulator.

Also I think they might be looking at the reception to see what to do with the franchise itself lol.

this happens every time a fan remake gains some traction, huh?

edit: if it's really just a rogue lawyer, hopefully it'll be cleared up. nintendo has been really aggressive about taking down fan works as of late tho. they seemed to be very chill about that kind of thing in the past.

that update doesn't clear anything up tho. if the takedown is legitimate, then the lawyer was clearly acting on behalf of nintendo, right?

It's not like mirror won't exist, they are certainly obligated to do so, the street of rage remix is still findable on internet, as well as roms ... glad they waited for finished version Well, hello there!

If the remake is too good, nintendo will nuke it, they still want to be the best, even they lost their luster.

edit:
nintendo starting to crackdown on fan work

there are other large-ish finished fangames (super mario bros x, zelda classic, super mario war for instance) that were never taken down...

i think SORR kinda quietly snuck back after the takedown lol. it has an official website where you can dl it now. lets hope something similar will happen with AM2R.
