Here's a question that came up today that had us scratching our heads:

- What would you call the character class of someone who has high health but only average defense (eg. armor)?

The term we were using was Tank, but a tank class generally has high health and high armor. Defender sounds ok, but again people assume the 'defending' part comes from high armor classes.

The best we have so far was "Blood Bank", which is more a joke than anything.

I've been going through some jrpg's since they tend to have interesting job types, but I've not come up with anything yet. Any ideas?

Maybe a Barbarian? Can't use armor, but is built like a fridge.
Wrestler?

Is 'story' the words, the meaning, or the telling?

In the vein of meaty names: Beef?

On a more serious note: most of the FF refer to units with large health/attack pool as 'Monks' or 'Blackbelts'. It may not be exactly what you're looking for though.

'Vanguard' could be another one, someone who takes the front-lines and has a large-ish amount of health points. I also quite like alvarop's suggestion of 'Wrestler'.

In league of legends the term for someone with a bunch of health but not building armor or magic resistance is called a bruiser.

Vanguard is quite nice - that still lets us use Defender for the high armor class characters. I also like Wrestler too.

Cheers guys, good suggestions.

I think Zaeche's Vanguard is a really good fit. I'll throw in Stalwart as my suggestion.
