that actually is ... i ... I get it. I think the director knows what it is. It's on purpose. EDIT: I'm positive the director knows what he's doing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmony_KorineI don't know if it makes any sort of statement, I don't know the whole story. It's probably another question posed by art. EDIT: After reading through some of the plots of his other movies, I'm sure this one is going to suck the joy right out of your soul. Modern society viewed as a dystopia, leaning toward existential nihilism. Super angsty fun teenager stuff. No answer in sight and nobody cares.

I didn't roll my eyes or think "oh my god."

Yeah, it seems like more of a comment on how detached a lot of mainstream culture is. I mean it is true how the mainstream is moving further away from average.

There is no mainstream culture anymore, only focus groups and targeted advertising.

EDIT: I'm positive the director knows what he's doing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmony_KorineI don't know if it makes any sort of statement, I don't know the whole story. It's probably another question posed by art. this. Korine is probably demonizing the characters in the movie, but he's playing it so straight that it's impossible to tell. I think Korine is one of those artists with a deep rooted fear of humanity, so he uses his films to make audiences experience the same horror.

Absolutely true. Also: anybody ever read this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tale_of_One_Bad_RatI come back to it every couple years or so and it never fails to astound me with the story but especially the art. Plus it is apparently actually used in abuse counseling in some places.

Check out my latest blog post! I discuss Inspiration and Adaptation. Why do we draw inspiration from certain things? I relate Super Meat Boy to Super Mario Bros. as an example. What do YOU think?
