Just bought Shovel Knight. About to see what all the hub-bub is about. Also spent the last two weeks revamping the look of my game. Getting ready to premier that soon. Maybe.

Hi !
Since i'm not very good at google search (it seems )
I know it's a bit weird but i think it can be helpful to get some good screenshot from other game to help me get some inspirations and such
I will start by asking some screenshot of the hero room debut (you know the hero sleep and wake in the room full of his stuff ) I searched on google but couldn't find any good stuff
The good idea is some 2d heroic fantasy video game
thanks

Huh? that's weird, what's the context and stake ? generally there is nothing remarkable about it, most are very drab replica of a room with almost no thought put into it (unlike movie). There is a bed, walls, some pot, a windows, a bookshelf, random misc, that's 90% of them! However if you have a question about tropes there is only one place http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GoodMorningCronoFirst answer when you type "rpg where the hero start in a bedroom" in google Use the list below to find game example and google those games' name. If fact there is some in the image section of search too, so I'll put the most famous one:

Like gimmy says, you should fill it with things that suggest interests of the hero. Is the hero a mechanic? Put tools or a half-finished project on a table. Put toys or decorations in the shape of a favorite animal (in a fantasy game, make them a creature unique to your setting). A photo of a friend doing something the hero enjoys (fishing, racing, gardening) introduces another NPC and can foreshadow a minigame by suggesting it's already one of the hero's interests.
Is the player going to return to their room frequently? Consider filling it with functional items the hero can use, like a save item, maybe access to unlocked minigames, a shelf for storing trophies earned over the course of the adventure, or a closet for storing alternate outfits.
You should make this thread in design - a discussion of home bases, starting rooms, and things like that is worthy of a new thread.

Not really worth starting up a new thread for, but if anyone wouldn't mind giving me their thoughts on the following color scheme (and text balance/readability as far as color goes) I'd appreciate it. I am just trying to fine-tune the scheme a bit (though I will have to re-tweak it later in relation to the other graphics). I don't want the text to "ping" too much (i.e. I don't want it to be too contrast-y) but I don't want it to blend in too much either (which is a juggling act given the differences in monitor calibration).

Somebody (one of my former students in the lab I teach, don't know who) made a post on my universities confession page saying I am "smoking".
Well what do you know, Red-headed Dutch-Canadian recovering alcoholic IS somebodies type
