the steam pad only would feel useful for games that are more kb+m friendly and you want to play those games where its not practical to have kb+m

I've said it before but, Gimmy is an astonishingly dedicated salesman for games he has never played on consoles he doesn't own.

anyway this fucking xenoblade shit took 2 hours to dl and now its taking like 40mins to install
whyyyy
this is the first and only time that ive had to download the same files that were already on a physical disc i just bought. why is nintendo always so backwards about shit like this.
also why are downloads on consoles always so slow compared to pcs. i don't get it.
let me tell you bout my first world problems son

Installing anything defeats the point of my buying it on the console in the first place.
I only have the basic WiiU so I'm not thrilled about buying a hard drive. I just want to buy the game, put it in and let it run.

I just want to put the game in the console and hit play and go. Older games figured out smart ways of hiding load times, like preloading rooms or funneling the player through loading hallways like in Metroid Prime. I don't want to have to keep buying new hard drives or delete and reinstall software when I want to play a different game.

you do realize that games running from a hard drive do the same things, right? open world games are all about preloading. they can just, you know, do them faster than games running off of old and slow disc technology. i have never had to buy a hard drive for a console ever (might change with the wii u because nintendo is dumb) and uninstalling games is really a negligible issue unless you literally play a different game every day. so is install time actually. i don't really see the big deal about waiting 5 minutes once to play a game that you will probably spend at least 10 hours on, esp if it means the game will run better while you're actually playing it. it's actually quicker to start a game once you've installed it unless it uses a disc as DRM.

we might see a resurgence of physical media once flash technology gets cheaper (tho im actually against non-rewriteable physical media for various reasons), but as of right now it's just not sensible for a lot of games to run from a disc.
