You haven't keep up with the news, there was a pico 8 movement that is a throw back to old way of doing game, now there is an hardware with it you can program. It's closer to amstrad cpc, amiga, and other programmable computers where you had to type code to play than the game boy.

Yep, that movement even extends to the DS/3DS, because a Japanese company made apps that allow you to interpret programs on the consoles. The thing even allows you to share programs online with the help of download codes. Also: shameless plug, but I'd like to know if this is actually something that people would participate in. |

If they continue firing the people with good ideas and management meddling that turn treasure into generic ... they'll continue have consensual million seller ... after all it's the better plan:
1. hire people able to have a spark of a good idea
2. grind that into a consensual machine
3. fire guys before he go full artist
4. industrialize the success until fatigue kick in.
I have this hypothesis that watchdog was actually what assassin's creed was meant to be and building toward (desmond character arc), I had contacts that allude to that too.

They fire talent much later or keep them long enough they move on their own. EA is different, it doesn't fire talent, it kills entire studio at once.  |

If nintendo go for (modern) "cartridge" they can do without hDD and disc drive, they might still need some memory for downloading stuff. But it would also mean the console can be much slimmer, more robust (less failure part due to reduce mobility, less return) cheaper price, better logistics. They have therefore possibility to pack power at a smaller price.

you know what would be really amazing? if that console had a built in screen and buttons and you could take it with you wherever you go. or actually, make that 2 screens,one of which is a touch screen. it could work with a clamshell design. and here's some CRAZY SPECULATION: what if that console had a stereoscopic 3d effect built into its top screen? woah |

Well you still need a power supply for the mighty power so no mobility, they could call it ULTRA 64!
More seriously:
That's why the fusioned handheld and home console division, the home console could use handheld paradigm to jack price down or power up, hence the crazy speculation.
In fact they could go a WII U, keep the portable screen, buff it to an handheld and use shared processing to lift processing load from multiplayer games and have their long lusted synergy between the two consoles.
They can also totally use smartphone for that and remove the cost of the second screen. But that flies against their 3d touch screen patents. They might essentially make a home 3DS.

Will take hints from four sword adventure, tetra's tracker and hyrule warrior, will have shareable dungeon making lite and crafting system. A form of multiplayer component will be big.
