Indie is a reaction to not being credited and not getting a reasonable salary. [...] “When we looked closely at that memo, we saw that as a group we were responsible for 60 percent of their $100 million in cartridge sales for a single year,” Crane recalled. “With concrete evidence that our contribution to the company was of great value, we went to the president of Atari to ask for a little recognition and fair compensation. Ray Kassar looked us in the eye and said, ‘You are no more important to Atari than the person on the assembly line who puts the cartridges in the box.’ After that it was a pretty easy decision to leave.” [...] At the time, several programmers had already left Atari only to turn around and become independent contractors for the company, still producing games, but for double the money. The Gang of Four decided on an ambitious and much riskier move. They would start an independent development and publishing company producing games for Atari’s VCS console, something no one had attempted before. [...] The History Of Activision

1st Mirror`s Edge Catalyst reviews are out, overall rather disappointing (this had huge potential so 75 is a disappointment).

I think the producer at that time was from the music industry, it was exactly the intended effects ... fact check this though quick fact check that still need complement A novel approach to giving credit to its developers was one of EA's trademarks in its early days. This characterization was even further reinforced with EA's packaging of most of their games in the "album cover" pioneered by EA because Hawkins thought that a record album style would both save costs and convey an artistic feeling.[16] EA routinely referred to their developers as "artists" and gave them photo credits in their games and numerous full-page magazine ads. EA also shared lavish profits with their developers, which added to their industry appeal. Because of this novel treatment, EA was able to easily attract the best developers.[citation needed] The square "album cover" boxes (such as the covers for 1983's M.U.L.E. and Pinball Construction Set) were a popular packaging concept by Electronic Arts, which wanted to represent their developers as "rock stars".[16]

i backed the yooka laylee kickstarter and am pretty damn pumped for it now after having forgotten about it for a few months. the sandbox (alpha demo for backers) is coming next month and i can't wait to see how it plays. i don't think it's going to top banjo tooie in terms of level design tbh but from what i've seen it should be a great nostalgia trip.

RIVERSIDE is an upcoming game for Nintendo NX and Oculus Rift by Zocklabs. That's interesting: Sherlock Gimmy, what's your opinion on this surprise? Edit: Nvm, it's nothing... :-( https://twitter.com/zocklabs/status/739915509194469376

BUT nintendo recently revived its virtual boy brand, which was not done since the failure ... that's only what we can say.
tiny CRAZY NINTENDO SPECULATION If nintendo is forced to go VR, I think they will go cardboard style attachement to the gamepad, they have all the tech in their console already, only missing robust tracking tech.
