Don't banjo and mario64 play the same anyway?

no, banjo is much less focused on the actual platforming and doesn't allow for as much "emergent gameplay" due to its streamlined moveset compared to sm64.

still wish ppl would clone sm64 instead of banjo

1. banjo is much easier to clone

2. banjo tooie is a great nonlinear action/adventure game. replayed last year for the first time in 15 years and thought it was amazing. you could do a lot worse than cloning that. besides, yooka is made by parts of the original banjo team, why would they clone a different game?

Going to need to take your word on most of this 'cause I haven't played either, just seen them both in action, however

streamlined moveset

I dunno man, there's sections where you take over completely different characters in banjo. I think Banjo's more comparable to Spyro than it is m64.

why would they clone a different game?

I get more of a banjo impression off of yooka than I do 64. But there aren't many areas in 64 and banjo where you can't draw parallels, I don't think. I should go out my way one day to at least have a go at them.

no i meant, why would a team of ex rare employees clone sm64 rather than banjo?

by streamlined moveset i meant, banjo's moves are pretty clear cut and all serve specific purposes. this is further underlined by how you unlock them metroidvania style over the course of the game: they often act as keys. The actual platforming is for the most part pretty simple. banjo is more of a "puzzle"/exploration game in that sense. in fact banjo level design is usually worst when the platforming actually gets challenging (rusty bucket bay!!!). mario has the whole moveset unlocked from the start, the moves are much more general-purpose and it has many more possibilities for chaining moves together and finding your own creative solutions to challenges. this is also why it's so popular with speed runners [insert parallel universes meme here].

Control of mario is more complex and more kinetic than banjo by a large margin. Mario is athletic course, banjo is obstacle course.

That Watch Dogs 2 trailer was surprisingly good! I always knew the revolution would not be televised, but be transmitted via bad memes... Also, I think that's the first time I've seen a 3D printer in a game. Kinda odd?

They get the audiovisual motion design is very good, who ever they find to do it is masterclass. Now the game and narrative (I mean the use of stuff to convey something) ... don't cringe too much with all the missing the point ...

cringe

That`s all I took from this trailer. Ubi listened to all the (unwarranted) boos and presented us with an insufferable Yupster Anonymous narrative.

Shame because I loved the first Watchdogs. Much better than recent GTAs.

I remember that the plot-linchpin character that tons of events pivoted around was named Ray Kenny in the first half of the game and then when you meet him is name is T-Bone Grady and they never seemed to make it clear that they are the same person/he is using a pseudonym.  Maybe I missed it, but it's super unclear (and his character is off the wall and doesn't make sense)

Most of the game is totally off the wall and doesn't make sense and is also super boring despite all of the parts you can tell they wanted to be fresh and exciting (the really boring sex slave plot arc, etc).

I've been watching the Manila Major DotA 2 event and it has been amazing. Not only has the PGL event crew has outdone Valve in production quality, but the teams are showing off great strategical and mechanical gameplay. The crowd is so hype, at one point they drowned out the commentators with their cheering. It makes me really happy that vidya games can be so big.
