Wheat/Gluten

To whom it may concern

I'm sure there are people really crazy from wheat, and I don't know what efforts are being made to warn them. Which in turn, makes me think there hasn't been a widespread effort (other than jokes on South Park).

There's no question I'm under-reacting to the seriousness of this.  It's just not in my art field to distribute imperative information.  Attempts to make art an imperative just make it look shitty like someone beat an artist within an inch of his life and demanded it be "exactly like this."

Video games probably aren't well suited for distributing health advice for the previous reason.  They're a lot better at other things, creating fun experiences and teaching a more complex way of thinking about problems, just to list a couple.

Don't rely on me to reminisce about my past. I'm not in a position to criticize it and I need to think about other things.

My wife has celiac disease and eating wheat (rye, barley, etc.)  will cause her to have muscular seizures so bad it looks like her rib cage is rippling like the surface of turbulent water. As with most autoimmune diseases there are degrees of severity so I wouldn't doubt that there is a portion of the population with a lower degree of severity that suffer from eating wheat in a less obvious manner (maybe even like what you've described).

While games probably aren't a great medium for health advice they could potentially be a great medium for coping and mentally healing when it comes to health issues. It's like hearing a good song that really touches upon a problem you've been suffering from, you resonate with it and there can be a lot of comfort in experiencing your pain expressed by others and through creative means. Sometimes artists manage to find the words, metaphors, depictions, etc. that we can't seem to put together ourselves but once we witness them are like "EXACTLY! That's exactly how it feels!" It's a pretty potent experience and I believe games have that potential too and I hope to see more of that emerge as the medium grows.

Quote
The Legend of Zelda series is Nintendo’s best-selling video game franchise enjoyed by more than two generations of gamers. The action-adventure game was released in 1986, only one year after Nintendo’s founding in 1985.

And you know what else was released in 1986? Yeah, you do. The last major reform to the American tax code was signed into law in 1986.

It’s been 31 years, and our current code is far beyond repair.

House Republicans have been working for years on bold ideas to overhaul our nation’s broken tax code. Now, with the Trump administration, the House, and the Senate working together, we’re on track to take up tax reform in the fall.
