RIP Lou Reed, Vocalist of Metallica 1926-2016 That's not Lou Reed, that's William "Billy" Holiday. I'll admit, he does look a bit alike in this photograph, but I assure you, it is indeed the great Lou Reed. I first became enchanted by his powerful voice and roguish good looks when I saw the music video to Metallica's break out smash hit "Paradise City" on MTV back in 1977.  |

Hah, well observed! The Beatles' influence on Metallica's musical sounds has been tremendous of course, so it is entirely likely that this here is a deliberate tribute by Mr. Reed to his idols.
