A few NPCs could add to the atmosphere, as long as they don't make you feel "safe" or like you have someone else to rely on. I think the NPCs should be used to further the sense of dread, etc. Like maybe one could just be raving/unintelligible, that sort of thing.

Nice! The sizing based on distance is a nice/important touch. I love the flashlight - are there different variations to it? I prefer the one with the fuzzy edges vs. the clean circle (the top two of the last images vs. the bottom two).
