I'm looking for two artists (or one artist who can fill both roles) to work on a project I'm creating & funding. I currently have an environmental artist, and right now I'm looking for someone to work on the various creatures, beasts, and monsters of the game. This involves (1) concept art sketches, and then (2) pixel art for the ingame sprites.
Here's a simple doc with some general theme/setting concept art, to give a rough idea of the setting of the game. Think fantasy but largely focusing on wild, ancient ruins - underwater areas, flooded areas, and eventually, areas with ancient technology.

What sort of beasts (or humanoids) could wander the ruins? Here's a collection of interesting creature/monster art pulled from various 16 and 32-bit games, to give an idea of the *type* of design/style I'm looking for.

The images do not need to be 100% complete; they can be a little sketched/rough, as long as it's enough for the pixel artist to create the sprite(s). Black & white is fine. I'll pay per concept image - let me know your rate.
Pixel ArtistOnce we have a concept for an enemy, the sprite artist will create the actual enemy sprite. The game is on a 32x32 grid but not all creatures have to adhere strictly to that and take up every pixel. They can also be bigger as necessary (for example, tall/fat enemy sprites.) The style is aimed at a 16-bit RPG aesthetic, or 32-bit RPG similar to the concept document above. In other words, not super-retro but not modern vector style either.
Enemy sprites will only face
one direction (down) but I would ideally like 3-4 frames of
animation. Just subtle movement is OK. A flying enemy flapping their wings a bit, a humanoid shifting a little, etc.
I'll pay a rate per sprite/frame of animation - negotiable of course, tell me your rates.
If you're interested you can post here or PM me. Please include your portfolio.
