You know what's funny about channers and redditors? When they're amongst themselves, they act like they are some kind of intellectual vanguard and like their internet shithole of choice is a model for a utopian society. But as soon as someone points out their behavior may have negative consequences they get all defensive and "it's just a prank, bro" about it.
I'm just glad that we TIGSource'rs can look down at those troublesome plebians as the 'useful idiots' they are.

True. I am pretty much the perfect human being, myself. Btw, still no answer from my buddy Elon.

the criticism of consumption is valid, the idea of an almost spiritual relationship to technology is interesting, the punchline about "wasting adulthood" is pure poppycock

yes thats what i meant. also theres an uncomfortable undertone of "anyone who doesn't contribute to advancement of technology is literally worthless" to the conclusion, which ironically is a common sentiment among the exactly the group of people the comic criticizes.

the actual thing that made this work was the alt text, though: "drawn on a cintiq" campbell was talking about themselves, in the end, more than anyone else.

doesn't make them right
the idea that "real adults" do certain "real things" is a very dangerous one, because "real stuff" usually means "not culture" and instead "enact the status quo"

well duh, in general. but i guarantee that this version of "real stuff adults do" had nothing to do with anything approaching status quo.
for context this is someone who had a public meltdown because of being the recipient of a large amount of money, which they deemed wasteful. they burned, in a literal fire, the stock of merchandise they had left, and posted a video of that as a kickstarter update.
campbell was (is?) a self-destruct in slowmo. they directed their self-hatred more and more inwards until it spilled out and broke 'em. i loved pfsc but they never did.

ouch
so that's, well, very understandable then
still, I don't agree with the comic as a statement without that context

Elon, where are you? Have you forsaken me??
EDIT: I mean, since you believe we live in the matrix or something, the money you wouldn't give me wouldn't even be REAL money.
