It's pretty fun, and I like the art style! https://www.google.com/doodles/halloween-2016The mechanics are really well showcased throughout the levels.

Those typing games are indeed similar, but I think there are some important distinctions. I felt that the doodle was more enjoyable for me for a few reasons - I could input the symbols in almost any order I wanted, and as long as I was fast enough, it would work. Also I could change a symbol I was drawing into something else halfway, if I changed my mind or saw an opportunity.
On the other hand, I can type much faster and don't run out of "screen space" and waste time resetting the cursor position, as with the mouse.
I agree that overall the mechanics are interchangeable, but it does alter the game feel.
Anyway, those are some pretty cool games! I'll check them out.

That was the mechanic I really liked too. In fact, it surprised me how for a simple google-doodle game it mixed up the gameplay in some really interesting ways. Around level 3 or 4, you start getting big slow moving ghosts coming towards you with about 7 swipe actions. As you get about 2 swipes in, a fast moving single swipe ghosts start flying in who you have to clear with a single swipe. You find yourself jumping backwards and forwards between the two ghosts, few hits on the big ghost, clear the small ghost who just appeared, back to the big ghost who is getting closer, clear the small ghost. It's a cool mechanic I don't see in any typing games where once you start a word, you have to finish it.

Exactly! That might be because there's no "control" for how fast a user can type in typing games. Even if you had this type of scenario, a user could just be a fast typer and get rid of the bigger ghost with no issue. The symbol drawing forces you to draw one thing at a time. It looks like they put a lot of thought into their level/enemy design.
