Description:

Far Ago is a FTL-like game on crack if crack was able to take crack itself!

Explore planets, accomplish missions for different alien species, and follow the mighty quest of preventing the end of the universe.
You can handle every situation peacefully but where is the fun in that, when you have a unique destruction system that allows you to annihilate overpowering enemies with a well placed shot in the lower navel of their ship?
Buy bigger guns as you progress or collect them directly on the wreckage of anyone who spoke to you with a tone you dislike.
Got half of your ship floating away from you? Reorganize your thrusters and weapons and here you are, good as new, ready for your next encounter!

How the game works:

You start your journey when the universe is about to collapse in on itself. Because of the damages to your teleportation device, each travel leads you back in time to a randomly generated planetary system. Each of which represents a new level with a random main-quest and some optional side-quests. Each level is a new opportunity for you to gather scraps, to find new parts for your ship, and to encounter other intelligent lifeforms that you can choose to help or fight. At the end of your journey, you'll be confronted to the root of what caused the universe to collapse. You will then have to make your ultimate choice!

And then there's the matter of the paradox battery, an artifact that seems to be it's own architect! As you travel through time in each level, you will be able to cause ridiculous paradoxical events that your battery is addicted to. What happens when the battery is fully charged? This is for you to find out!

Features:

-Procedurally generated levels, explore new planetary systems every time

-Incredible destruction thanks to the home made "Brittle System"

-360 gravitational gameplay

-Highly strategical space combat. Manage your ship's modules on the fly to fit every encounter!

-Deep Dialogue system allowing you to handle every situation with various outcomes

-Mess with the time-line. Create inconsistencies during your journey through time to charge up your Paradox Battery

-Encounter 3 different alien species with different types of ships and weapons

-Goofy space creatures

Looks good! Nice trailer - is the music from the trailer from the game itself?

Also, how will the dialogue system work vs. the combat? Is there a "talk" option that pauses time/combat? Or does that happen separately, before combat, etc?

Dialogue is always an option! if the player receive a transmission, he can decide to open it or not.A transmission stop time like you would expect. I may add some kind of delay to answer as well as a delay to respond to some exchanges. Some enemies will shoot without any warning but most of your encounters will trigger a dialogue box to let you handle the situation the way you want/can.

[Edit] This is a stress test, it runs on my laptop (Intel Core I5-3210M with a GeForce GT 650M/2GB GDDR5)

I optimized the AI :D in this demo, you can see a 16v16 battle with various ships.

This looks great! Visually it's got a kind of Loco Roco thing going on, which is awesome. Keep it up!

You've got a solid pitch, it makes your game intriguing.

To be honest, I'm not sure I really understand your mechanics or how you play the game. But that's why I find it interesting, I want to find out.

Keep it up!

That's an awesome compliment right there, many thanks! I don't like the background as it is, so this will change but I'm sure you will love the new ones!

Thank you, I'm working on a playable demo right now, nothing too fancy, but it's a way to keep the interest up and to gather helpful feedback.

The difficulty level seems just right in order to have fun and grind for what ever you will get out of it. I'm a little jealous on this project, to be honest Giggle

Aha  Cool

Thanks! To be honest, difficulty level is still a big unknown for the moment. Some peoples did pretty well first try, some got rekt instantly. I guess this is something I'll have to handle more precisely once I have found the average learning curve of my audience.

Thank you! I'm proud to be able to say that every effects are home made, if you go through my facebook or twitter feed, you can actually see the whole thing coming up bit by bit  Grin

I'll do a video soon that will be a compilation of the different videos I posted during the process of making Far Ago! I'm not done yet but I'm starting to have a lot of footage and I want to make it more digest for peoples to appreciate the work I put on this project so far.

If you included just the basic elements of the game on a smaller scale that would be pretty cool.  Cant wait to try the game. Grin

i don't even know, my man. I would love to see the combat, but I would love to see the story without spoiling too much of the game. Put a planet or two, in... something crazy with a cliffhanger so we can go crazy about what's next.   Toast Left Cheesy
