Ever wanted to build your own car? Or see how life was in Finland in 1995? Well, lucky for you My Summer Car's early access was released recently. I thought that it might be interesting for possible car or wacky simulator enthusiasts here. Game simulates owning and building your own summer car from old Datsun 100A while doing jobs, drinking beer and enjoying various other activities of 90's Finnish country side. While game play of survival mechanics and other activities are kinda silly, the game provides quite in depth simulation of car engine and the building process of it. Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/516750/Trailer: While I have not played it (not really into cars) I have watched videos and streams of it in Youtube and Twitch. While it is mostly a hit here in Finland it also seems interesting to many non-Finns (especially the bit surreal but still realistic lifestyle it depicts) so I decided to post it here Oh, and it is pretty much one man project which with the topic makes it about as indie as it can get haha

As part-Finn, I fully support Finland against the former Soviet Union in the rival car game wars of 2016. But really both games look great, guys!

My dad had this exact Datsun when I was a kid (around the same time as in the game). My schoolmates would laugh and mock me/us whenever he dropped me off at school or wherever. I felt really terrible. It was a cheap and ugly car but all we could afford at that time. I'm weirdly conflicted looking at this game... I wanna play it but the memories bum me out still

well your friends' dads' shiny bland second owner cars didn't make it into a finnish hit indie game 20 years later so who's laughing now

Fwiw developers of both games have discussed about that and they support each other's games since they both love cars haha

Garbage cars are the best. My dad had a truck hanging on to life by a thread and there was a gaping hole under the driver's side floor that got so big the piece of plywood covering it fell through it as we were driving so you could just stare down at the road. Sometimes random animals would crawl up through it and use the vehicle as a camping spot and you wouldn't know it until you actually hit the road and then SURPRISE: a cat! It was great.
