MOCT




Four homeless adolescents fight inner fears and bad memories in dreams to find their place in real life.



Gameplay

MOCT is up to 4 player co-op action platformer. Characters have different ability sets, so combining it against specific foe behaviours or level architecture is the key to overcome the nigthmares. Levels are arena based (some boss centered) with gameplay mechanics twist which changes level geometry and at the same is mutual health for all players.















MOCT is working title. All WIP. Thank you for attention!

Agreed:

"4 player co-op 2d action platformer" is a huge bonus. With an art style in the realm of "Sword and Sworcery," this has a ton of potential. You really nailed a beautiful Pixel-Art style!

Lately worked on free aiming and attack actions in any possible for attack movement state(idle, run, mid-air). Added move slowdown in case of backward running (only in aim state).

edit: all animations are wip. For now really don't like walking animation, it's just runing backwards with few frames off.

I really like all the moving parts of the characters. A lot of pixel art quickly becomes pretty stiff.

//Rope// Thank you! Really appreciate your feedback. For now I want to keep it in secret, later I will post each characters specific actions and skills. Last post gif character is about movement and long range physics based shots, he is weak in melee combat. Wall jump to climb high places is one of his specific basic moves.

I've been working on UI elements lately. Here's part of character selection menu (placeholder indicator). Animation have three states (deselect, select, submit) and some transitional stuff.

I love the art style!

Just a note, as a bulgarian/russian speaker I also love the title Wink But do you think people would be able to pronounce it? Some friends of mine released a game with a Bulgarian name that essentially failed because the name sounded super obscure to english speakers.

Yeah, I thought about it, that's why I keep writing "working title") I really want to make russian name that reflects ideas behind the game and has some similar energy(it's easier for me to feel it in native language). In english I let the game speak by itself, don't want to translate it. So it should be simple in transliteration to english (you know, without hard russian letters) and easy to pronounce. One day I will come with something essential and something I like in all mentioned aspects. Appreciate your feedback.

I love the art! All the little moving bits in the atmosphere and the lighting really set a nice mood.

And I think the name MOCT is memorable and works well.

Damn! This looks so good! Eager to hear about the gameplay and more on the world. The art reminds me of a lot of great games - Lit, Superbrothers, and Rain World all come to mind. Will be keeping an eye on this.

MOCT is an awesome title, you should keep it. I had no clue what it meant but it's simple and looks great. Also 4 letters = 4 characters on title screen looks nice.

Finally some gameplay footage (character revive mechanics). The more you die, the more //souls:tv destructions// you need to revive. If you are playing with less than 4 players, you can switch to another free character.
