Never heard of Chessrouge ... interesting. My goblins move straight towards your king slowly. Eye monsters move straigt towards your king quickly. Dragons move (left/right/up/down) or (left/right to king), then shoot a fireball. Skeletons .. not in yet.

I like those tiles a lot! (The white and black tiles in the earlier screenshots seemed boring to me, plus I couldn't figure out which was which).
Does the newest test build have the colors?

Thank you for the feedback. The new test build does not have the new colours. Currently they exist only in that image.
The white chess pieces will be the standard pieces. They also have an ivory colour, which I can clearly see on my home monitor, but only hardly on my monitor at work. I may have to darken the ivory colour to be more visible.

Now that you said they're supposed to be ivory-and-white, yes I can see the ivory in the screens with my monitor (but just barely). Definitely needs to be darkened.

Testing alternative (less noisy) background tiles. This is the random room. Random enemys, random team, random cracks, cobwebs, mushrooms, stains. Soon random background colour too!

Been working a lot on the game, still so much more to do. Totally underestimated the work left, and some feature creep. I added a 8th palette to the mix. Tweaked first colour. These are now the final colours for the chess pieces and UI.
