Hi guys, this is my second game being programmed by myself and I want to be sharing the progress from the early stages.

Geolight is a top-view endless runner/action video game driven by music and vfx.
The goal is to reach the max distance as possible avoiding enemies and objects on your way to the top scoreboard's rank.

Soon I will release a demo too in order to get feedback and ideas.
Thanks guys.

I agree, visuals are lovely. I like how everything glows and those subtle particles

UPDATE-

Hi guys, this week I have been quite busy and I wasn't able to work too much on the game. I have been updating websites and orginizing everthing better to keep posting more frequently.

My main goal is to get a first test of the game ready to be released here in order to get feedback from you all, for that I have been adding the next stuff to the game (I think I will release the test this week):

-Main Menu.
-Ingame Menu.
-Best controls, still early and in a binary way.
-Enemies tile system.
-Enemy test (basically a cylinder)

You can check a new video on Instagram, sorry for the crappy quality.

I have a few questions:

I have been thinking on release a DevLog video every two weeks and...
-Which would you like more, a video just talking about the new game features or something a bit more technical/tutorial about
how I'm developing the parts of the game ?.

Talking about the game build, are you interested on just a windows version or anyone would like a Mac/Linux version too ?

Best!

FIRST version released.

Hi guys here is the link for the version 0.0.01

Windows version

Linux version (the accelerate key doesn't work, use the keyboard arrows instead).
Linux version

This is an early version (just two objects to avoid). I recommend you to use a 360 controller and of course feel free to send me feedback.

(let me know if you fancy a Mac or Linux version too)

Cesar.

video (22-01-07)

This is the first development video of Geolight.

This week I have been working on a new control system and adding a few elements to avoid and creating a basic menus system.

And after a great friend’s feedback I will be trying a different gameplay approchings to give the game a gameplay with more movement’s freedom.

Rob Fenn (fracturesmusic.com) is creating the new music/sfx this guy rocks!

Very nice visuals, it's like Geometry Wars meets top-down racing Smiley Random suggestion if you haven't done it yet: you may want to increase the speed as time goes on for an added challengue, so the longer the player keeps avoiding obstacles the harder it becomes. Hold out for long enough and it becomes insanely frenetic Grin

I already have that feature wrote it down, actually somethings I try it on hight speeds too. Right now I'm going to change the control system and I think is going to look more like a racing game Wink, thanks for the feedback @Mahn

I am indeed creating the music and sfx  Gentleman ...although, just to avoid confusion...the music on this video isn't mine, but placeholder music that Cesar already had in there before I forced my way onto the project.

Hello everyone. New update!
We have been working on the game the last week I have been "forced" to redo the code of the whole game. Now works great and is pretty solid.
We create a new line system for movement and game lines.
We have been doing new art test (lasers, lights etc), the images and video looks a bit noise but we will fix the art the next week. I'm still working on a new control scheme but I'm still not happy with it, I think still needs a bit more of work. We are thinking to add a few weapons but this could lead to change the control scheme again... Anyway could be a great idea. Let me know what you thing about the integration of weapons for the game, Thanks!
