And for those who enjoy figuring out all the details of untold concepts.
I guess I'm both of these things, 'cause I really enjoyed the game.

It's not for everybody. I assume the people that see magic in it are atmosphere nuts. Like me.
And me. Me too. It's the main reason I play games.

And me. Me too. It's the main reason I play games. I think the big draw for me is (other than just enjoying strong atmosphere) that if I can understand how atmospheres are successfully created in the virtual world, then I can likely take a lot of that knowledge and apply it to my architectural work, creating strong atmospheres in the physical.

Yes, definitely vice-versa as well.
...it's a lot harder to experiment with and mock up built atmospheres than games ones though. :D

I got a reply back to my feedback email, really cool. - On the levels, the music only plays one time and then doesn't loop. I think this is a serious detriment to the atmosphere! This is what I'd most like to see fixed. - The "go through the portal" musical sting from the one-screen areas before the main world is too loud, compared to other sound effects. fantastic feedback! i really appreciate it. i brooded long and hard about the music not looping, and in the end chose to allow it to fade out and leave the player in silence. i was indeed waiting to discover if anyone found it a detriment. you have just confirmed my fear. thank you! i will definitely think of an elegant way to implementation the music in a different manner. i'll include this in the version 1.1 update of the game.
also, the sound volume being too loud for the "go through portal" (i also feel that it's too loud for the key door jingle) is an easy fix. i'll make this tweek to the 1.1 game version, too.
i can't thank you enough for being a positive voice. it'll for surely help improve the game for anyone who happens to get their hands on it a bit later.
peace! j I really don't think I agree with him on the music-looping thing, but it's great he's trying to improve the game.

I agree. I sometimes worry that game developers (especially new ones) care *too much* about feedback, and aren't really able to say: no, I'll keep it the way I have it. It tends to take away the individuality from a game when it's adjusted too much due to feedback.

Yes, I think this is a really nice quality that exploration games have picked up on. I really don't think it works in some games (NL2's kick-ass retro music had better not just stop), but for exploration games it seems to do a brilliant job of setting the tone for the exploration, then letting the player soak in the spaces without being distracted by the looping music. In a sense it gives the player a soundtrack for their adventure, while also not, because a lot of time there won't be music playing.

I prefer the music not looping, and tunes popping up in specific places, like entering a new area, to set the mood.

Excellent atmosphere, some of the gimmicks are a bit annoying (goddamn rose helicopter)
Bugs: You can go back to the yellow secret and get the grins again. Some grins also reappear in the hat room sometimes.
Also, in the room where you shoot upwards with the wind, you can rub against the wall and get stuck until you reset the room.

hi zara, i emailed them to justin, and he said: oh, do you mind asking him for a bit more detail on the "You can go back to the yellow secret and get the grins again." bug?
specifically, does he mean the room where you actually get the yellow buster moth, or the room prior to that in which you need to knock the lantern to get the large glowing butterfly to come out?
appreciated!

the room where I actually get the yellow buster moth. Other moths seem to be re-acquirable as well.

Finally got through the last world. 11,000 Bustability...is that good?
I think a *truly* awesome bonus for donations would be an mp3 soundtrack of the game. There's a lot of good music in the game. If people haven't, I recommend they wait awhile in the "floating through space" at the end of each world, once you get zapped through the radio dish. The music there develops into a cool bit with a beat and theremin-ish sounds, I love the relaxing feel of that area.

Doesn't that kind of defeat the point of donations?

How so? Because you're paying for a product?!? Well, I agree about somehow making the soundtrack avaible though, because the music is awesome.
