I guess I'm better off getting stuff published rather than into a game...
As a writer its naturally your job to tell other people on a project what to do, and these are often people who think they can do it better themselves and, when compared to newly minted writers, are often right.
Make your own game. Make it small, make it doable. You don't have the same sellable skill as an artist or a programmer. Unless you've got a lucky connection, get used to being a writer/producer rather than just a writer. And also add programmer in there as well.
And designer.
And potentially artist/musician.
