Is it possible for others to detect which software was used, from a completed game?

For example, if you used Maya, but actually credited Blender, would anyone be able to tell?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you've pirated some paid software and are hoping you can credit free software to throw the feds off your tail?

Reddit already answered this: https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dmodeling/comments/2rwy5i/how_do_companies_like_autodesk_maya_know_if_you/?st=iybewaph&sh=312293c1

What happens is, you get famous, you get sloppy because you hired a bunch of strangers, then Autodesk phones you up and asks what the deal is.

If you're planning on releasing a game that no one wants to play then you're pretty much okay.

*Okay, there's also some hilarious self editing in that thread where one redditor is making some political statement by changing all of their comments to a screed.

Just pay for the software you use, it's never not worth it in the long run, specially if you intend to make commercial games.

It's literally impossible to claim that it's "worth it" unless you need the licence to commercially publish, lol

Well even if you don't do something commercial right now, one thing can lead to the other and before you know it you are using the software you've already mastered for a commercial project. It's still an investment in your future even if you are not commercially active today so to speak.

That's why you get the licence after you already know what programs you're comfortable with and need it in order to go commercial. Before then I suggest investing in a better diet and comfortable shoes and maybe a bicycle for medium distance travel.

Shrug you probably shouldnt post anymore about your game here since now we know, but i dont think people would know unless you used obvious assets specific to that software
