Hey all! I was working on title screen and logo art tonight. Which do you like? What could I improve? Note that the colors (especially the backgrounds) are still a bit loose at the moment.Context: The mood of the game is meant to be mysterious, atmospheric, and set in a beautiful forest that doesn't much care whether you live or die there. Here's the elevator pitch: "Year In The Trees is an upcoming 2D survival/action RPG about self-reliance for PC, Mac, and Linux. Explore a magical forest locked in time; can you survive long enough to uncover its secrets?" Logo A:Logo B:

I would choose the first one, because it fits the title better than the other one. There is growing moss or something on top of the stones, just like in an old forest.

first one i'll expect something with greek mythology or anything similar. I'd choose the second one as it fits more the magical forest theme. It's also easier to read.

The first one is actually a little hard to read, I didn't catch it was a "T." It also seems a little confusing - ancient-ish rocky structures talking about... trees? The second one has a bit more of a woody/scroll style that fits better and is more legible.

The T in #1 is hard to read. -FREES-? I don't like the colors of #2 very much but the flying tree parts are no longer confused with the characters (-T:R'EE·S-).
#2 looks very soft in comparison. I'm sure you could tweak #1 to look more like wood instead of stone while keeping some of the hard edges. Do you want to convey 'hard survival' or 'beautiful nature'? Or maybe re-add some hard edges to #2? Personally, i think the best version would be a mix of both?

Logo A with the stones from B. Logo A is more appealing and logo B is more readable.

I think Logo A is more suitable to the theme, but B looks a lot nicer and is much more readable.

The second one.
It's cleaner, more readable, and has better contrast. It's also more evocative of the forest theme.

This may be harder to do, but the theme of the first one, (The grass in the shadow under the letters, the moss on top of the letters, etc.) With the clean letters of the second one.
