Hey, any of you's guys struggling to find jusssst the right color palette or lack thereof for your game?

Yeah, yeah, me too.

Me too...

BUT THERE IS HOPE!

Introducing the first Monthly Mock-Up Scrimmage!

------------------------------------------------
The way this works:
For you PJers, this shouldn't seem too alien

At the first of the month a palette and/or theme and/or idea will be submitted.

You will have an entire month to submit a mock-up of a game that fits the criteria set for that month.

Upon submission of your mock-up , you will basically receive the afforded praise, indifference, or constructive feedback afforded your work.

At the first of the next Month , new criteria will be submitted and we'll see how far we can keep this going.

Sound good? great, let's do it.   Noir

2_21_2017 - Topic 1: Guxt

Guxt is an awesome indie shooter created by the godfather of independent development himself, Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to create a game mock-up(any game) using the beautiful minimalist palette Pixel used for the game.

Details and screenshots below:

The (un)official Palette:

-Updated: I missed 1 tint of grey

Topic Deadline 4/1/2017 ( extra time for first topic)

This is a good thread. Might be a good opportunity to get back into pixel art more regularly too. I'm in!

I'm pretty sure it's just "create any game mockup you can think of". Guxt is just mentioned because that's where the palete comes from I think.

Are we limited to pixel art/lowres style that strictly uses only the colors on the palette? I'm asking because i could use the palette as my color picker, but if i were making a high res/digital paint mockup, the smoothness of the brushes and whatnot would add a lot of inbetween colors. Is that allowed?

Sure, there's no high-res discrimination here. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
Could make things really interesting.  Coffee

Nice topic idea! Smiley Hand Thumbs Up Right

Considering the colors of the palette, my initial thought was a mockup about the long rivalry between gold and silver. Huh?

(Rough sketch, i hope it's okay to post WIP.)

Well, it certainly doesn't hurt to show progress. Just make sure to properly label all WIPs. It may also be a good idea to number them a maybe give a small description of the changes you've made.  Coffee

This was fun!

Here's my megaman inspired mockup. The background dithering is a reused asset.
