A detailed account on which languages paid off and not, and what happened after a few years when Chinese was added: http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/LarsDoucet/20170307/293025/China_is_kind_of_a_big_deal_for_Indie_Games.php
I found it to be a great read, and will refer back to it once I'm at that stage.

Great blogpost, and obviously jives with what I've previously written about : http://www.squeakywheel.ph/blog/2017/1/24/go-east-why-indie-game-developers-should-sell-games-in-china-while-they-still-can

Something I noticed recently though is that Chinese purchases of the game have significantly lagged ever since I lost my Weibo passwrd and haven't been able to make a new account. So while Steam will be the vector for most player's discovery of the game, I do think that having some sort of social media presence in China, no matter how small, has an effect.

Yes, your post is great as well!
If we ever decide to do a release in China, I'll be sure to get a Weibo account as well.
Do you post there in Chinese, or how do you work it?

...since I lost my Weibo passwrd ...

You don't have a password manager!?  Who, Me?
