Passed the limit, but weirdly I don't have the same amount of votes in each category. I thought one was supposed to rate at least one star always even if it's difficult to feel like a particular game fits into every category and not just... nothing. o-o

Passed the limit too, by playing, commenting and rating all games of the people who left a comment on my game. Plus additional random games. Some of the creators wrote a comment back. I guess my game does not attract many players "on its own". Most participants appreciate feedback and answer in their game thread if you pointed something out. Anything helps, no need to be shy. Passed the limit too which is nice to see. Feel like this Ludum Dare people are also generally putting more depth in their comments which is nice. Got some great feedback which is great to have if I want to improve my little entry. I've got different amounts of votes on categories which is interesting to see and is actually interesting to know. A nice improvement being able to see those numbers.

Might be a voting glitch. The Voting HTTP requests use GET (and not POST or PUT) for some reason. Perhappes this causes some caching issue (even though the HTTP Response says don't cache.

The LD site is still (in practice) sort of beta, after all.

IIRC you can skip categories on the old LD.

Now that we're well into voting, does anyone have a list of the top games they've seen?

So far here's a just a small sample of my favorites:

Yeah - path of the rabbit was perhaps the most "complete" game on this compo/jam that I've tried so far.

I'm fairly happy with my game, got the required rating amounts and all  Smiley

I'm definitely thinking I should do a post-compo version with fixes and modifications according to people's feedback and see how it turns out - I just don't know when I'll have the time for that Huh?

I've made a list of the 5 games I most easy recall when away from the whole Jam circus.

(These five are all very good games, IMHO)

There are now some "Advanced metrics" on the game page.
Does anyone "Classic Balance" and "Smart Balance" actually measure?

There is also a page for games in need of a little extra help (because they don't have 20 ratings yet):

Oh finally the https://ldjam.com/games filters are working! Thanks for the hint, Jordgubben! Smiley

Quote
Classic: This is the classic balancing filter. It balances the list based on ratings alone. You start seeing diminishing returns after 100 ratings.

Quote
Smart: This is the modern balacing filter. It balances the list using a combination of votes and the karma given to feedback. You start seeing diminishing returns after 50 ratings, but you can make up for it by leaving quality feedback.

This is said about Classic and Smart if you filter by those categories. I guess Classic is just just ratings given vs. ratings recieved. Smart somehow takes "quality feedback" into account, it has to do with hearts (karma) given for your written feedback.

Edit: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/games filter buttons are not showing up! It seems that page shows the same as https://ldjam.com/games/danger/ just without any filter options.

Edit2: The end of the voting is likely to be pushed back to friday (according to Mike's twitter), because less than a third of all games recieved enough ratings to be ranked.

To be honest, I was pretty turned off by the initial filtering options, poor organization, etc. That probably contributed a lot towards the current dilemna. It hasn't been the smoothest Ludum Dare for sure. When I was trying to post a post-mortem, the page would jump to the top every time I edited the text. Good thing I wrote it in Wordpad first. Huh?

Something is clearly wonky with the code and/or meta this time.  Just look at the rating stats.

Quote
Ratings:
20+: 1233
15-20: 10
10-15: 50
5-10: 263
0-5: 1427

1690 games (57% of all submissions) still have 10 ratings or less. There is almost nothing left in the 10-20 range. Everyone either got lot of ratings or barely none at all.

My guess would be that the lack of proper on site filtering caused a lot of players to use itch.io instead. Since itch prioritizes already popular games, ratings accumulate  instead of being spread out.

I guess it's because of players overusing the new Danger filter, which returns games with almost 20 ratings. It was the default filter some days ago, when only ~800 games had around 20 votes, so the 10-15 and 15-20 range were exhausted pretty fast. Currently, the Smart filter is set as a default again and ~1200 games have enough ratings. Naturally, it will slow down now, because more votes are needed to push a single game over 20 ratings.

It has been said voting will end late this friday, maybe saturday.  Tired

Edit: On this page, you can see how far individual games are away from being ranked in the specific categories: http://vatcss.info/ld38votes/ Audio, Humor and Mood seem to be problematic categories.

A lot of games don't really have "Humor" or "Mood" (or even "Audio"), I'm get the feeling some participants missed to just opt out on those categories.

Yes, because opt-out was not possible at the end of the jam, only some days later. Many games don't have a cover image either, same thing.

It would have been cool to be able to rate zero stars as an indication to the author he should have opted out of this category. Like this:

You can rate zero, because I haven't gotten the same amount of ratings in every category. :p

But the system does not differentiate between "no rating given in this category" and "given zero stars in this category on purpose". Anyway, i put it here already: https://github.com/ludumdare/ludumdare/issues/972

I'd like to have ratings now! Waaagh! To spend the rest of the weekend playing the top rated games. Tired
