I think the character have to be able to fight somehow, even if stretching a bit. The Samorost dude, I can't imagine him in a brawler.

If Peach can fight by pulling fricking turnips out of the ground, the Samorost dude can find some way of fighting. Perhaps he could sic his dog on people.

The greatest game idea ever :D

I'm pretty sure the authors of the games would be happy to give the rights to use their characters. In the end I think this would be great way to promote indie games.

My character suggestion is the sandworm from death worm.

Gamma Bros. would be awesome, they could be like the Ice Climbers and fight as a duo. Samorost guy is a bit of a stretch though.

A few more ideas:

Eets
Mr. Robot
The ninja from N
A fighter from Toribash

Wow. Moi, thanks for suggesting Hickbilly. Please feel free, I'd love to see him blasting away with his shotty. Not to mention all the other great characters the game would feature. Also, A Liero worm seems somewhat appropriate...

I don't know if there's anything to this game yet, but I think it's worth talking about. If it takes off, maybe we can move it to the group project board?

Yes, yes, aaaaaaaaand... YES!!!

We should have a fighter who's a bunch of colored gems... Huh?

Final boss, yes.

In fact, all bosses could be based out of casual games.

If this actually happens, it would be the sweetest thing ever.

I think Cletus Clay would be neat, being clay and all. Can't have enough mixed styles.

The ball from Within A Deep Forest. The moves would briefly change it into a different ball.
Down+B = Iron ball, Up+B = Free ball, Forward+B = Speed ball, B = ...Cold ball?

And one of the blocks from ACCELEMATRIX. :D

The stone frog idol from Zuma.

I'm pretty sure there's already enough to this idea for a small prototype to be made with a few characters from the games of TIGS regulars. I'd be willing to help in anyway I can (probably art assets and testing).

So, anybody up to the task?

I know this will make three from a developer, but I'd like to see Ikiki as a Brawler.

This game must exist.

That is all.

ADDENDUM: Actually, it isn't. Allergic Pig (or his Monster fiend), RunMan (or his Monster fiend), Sumo from Sumotori Dreams aaaaand the Pink Dude from Blokketiblok (Pengo clone. Fun though.) MORESO! So far, so totally awesome.

If this were to actually take off, and if it's 2D, I'd love to contribute some pixels.

Regardless of the legitimacy of the idea, I'm still gonna try to cook up some mock sprites anyway!

I might just make a mock-up of the selection screen. I always wanted to do something similar. :3

One (or all three) of the Cyber Dogs would be pretty awesome.

Pity forum-based collaborations rarely work out in the long run, because this could be a damn awesome game.

...How would we get Kenta Cho in the game?  :D

Forum-based collabs usually don't work because people are too ambitious, and usually don't know eachother all that well, so it lacks a sense of loyalty and commitment. It would be best if one or two people took the lead and the rest helped with bits and pieces to get the work going faster. That's also why a small prototype for starters is the best option, something that can be coded in a week at most.

* It would be nice to have someone from Interactive Fiction, but I can't really think of anyone suitable. Varicella won't work, on reflection (honestly, can you picture the guy in fight?) Suggestions welcome!

I disagree.  Varicella is absolutely one of the most violent IF characters I can think of - he has a knife, and he's not afraid to use it!  He's certainly no brawler, though.  How unseemly.

Galatea is made from a very durable marble, which could be interesting, and she does get violent if you push her enough.

I can think of a few very violent characters, but they're either 'everyman' types (Scavenger) or from quite obscure games (The Plague Redux anyone?).  I suppose there's always a yeti robot zombie.

Background stages should be taken from the games, no? And perhaps others can be thrown in. There definately needs to be a crate level. Also, music should be from the games as well.  Kiss
