Wow, awesome. I wake up and there's two pages of replies :D I'm working on a sorta prototype right now using Quote. Should be ready by tomorrow evening, I think! Thanks for all the suggestions I'll write up a proper post as soon as I can on what's been posted so far. This is so awesome!

Seeing this makes me wish I had a popular enough game for a character in Indie Smash Brawl.

Has anyone mentioned a certain 'Guy Balding' yet?
Thanks, Jim.

Final boss, yes.
In fact, all bosses could be based out of casual games.
Daisy Dash, the muffin factory worker/floor mopping female entrepreneur. Her ambitions and desire to serve know no bounds and she won't let YOU get in her way

What might be good, since there are so many characters, is to have maybe 8 main contenders, and have a bunch of "secondaries" that can be called in when a power bar is charged up. Like in Marvel vs. Capcom.
Reiko from R&C, for example... wouldn't really make sense as a main player, but call her in for a vicious slap attack?
TRES AWESOME, DUDE.

I like that idea. That way we could insert many characters that are much more odd or not combat oriented for a quick help, without having to make up attack moves for them. Unless they are really popular.

Wow! This idea has forced me to return from my self-imposed exile from TIGS (ok, actually I was really busy with school lately lol). But really, this is an awesome concept! I would love to see Quote and Noitu Love kicking the crap out of each other... I'll have to sit here and stew on some ideas for a sec... I don't know who's thought this was initially, but kudos for this one

Line (I think that's Chalk's heroine's name) would probably be a summon. Like, she pops up and draw lines that bind the opponents on their spots for easy pwnage.

I really like the "summons" idea. Inevitably, we're going to have to cut a load of characters from the game. This seems like a good compromise.

Summons could be items in the form of the game's .exe icon :D

Another thing: a lot of indie games are shumps, which wouldn't fit really well into a fighting game. This would be a great way to include them.
Also, I like the idea of the summons being .exe files. :D

What about the main character of the Touhou series, Reimu? There is even a fighting game with those girls already, not much figuring out has to go there. We'd still need a translator to ask for the rights, though.

It'd be awesome if there was an attack that just called all the shmup ships onto the screen at once, in a big swarm. Now I want to do a mockup...
