---

Mortal Metanoia is an action packed platformer game where you fight for your survival under alien oppression on a dystopian planet. The game focuses on engaging gameplay, polished mechanics, and juicy visuals. Also, while not the main highlight of the game, we aim to convey a story about the twistedness of the human nature under dire circumstances.

---

The game is still under heavy development, and most of the work so far has been put to make the game feel good to play. Once the of the basics have been finished, and honed to perfection, the goal is to start focusing on actual content creation.

---

The game initially came into being as an entry for the Post-apocalyptic GMC Jam #1. The development has continued since then, and the goal is to create a fully featured game based on the initial demo/idea we had for this jam.

---

We are starting this devlog here on TIG, so we could hear your precious feedback as well. The goal is to try keep you posted on the recent changes and any major updates to the game.

Also, keep an eye out for our Greenlight campaign that we are about to launch very soon!

More to come sometime soon. For now, let us hear any questions you may have about the project!

The title logo is visually confusing to me and hard to read clearly at a glance. I think it's the gradient effect you're using with the dark orange to black color choice. I'm going to need a more in depth explanation why this is different than the 500 plus action packed pixel platformers that get made every day.

If you compare this to something like Dead Cells, which came out recently, you're going to have to have a damn good hook to pull in an audience. I'm sorry if this seems harsh, but it's how I feel right now about more of this genre every day.

I'm sorry to hear that you feel that way. Though, it is true that there is quite a lot of competition in this genre. However, we are trying to create something here that, at the end of the day, has its own unique atmosphere, feeling and visuals.

Development update:

We have spent the few last days on prototyping a grenade throwing mechanism. The goal here is to make fights in tight corridors, and fragging enemies in hard-to-reach places, more interesting. Also, we are planning to have atleast a couple of different types of grenades, with different behaviours, to allow versatile use of this grenade system. Still, there is quite a lot of work here that needs to be done to make this system play well with the existing controls and character movement... For example, a some kind of throwing animation is surely needed.

Surprisingly, it was quite hard to make the basics for this to feel right. A grenade lobbing system gets real tricky pretty fast when you have to consider the aiming and such. From the prototypes we had, the best, and the one that is being used for now, is a system where the grenade is thrown using a trajectory where it meets the crosshair. Still, as said, there is a lot to tweak here, especially regarding the animations, before this looks and feels as good as the other controls we have for the character...

Here is a sneak peek gif:

For those who might have missed it, Mortal Metanoia is now on Greenlight. Go check it out!

Today, we received the news that Mortal Metanoia has been greenlit! With the Steam direct just around the corner, this doesn't seem like such a huge deal anymore, but we are still very excited that we made it through! It has been great to see that a lot of people are interested in the game. We would like to thank you for all the support we have received so far!

So what's next? We will continue working on the game as usual. There's still a ton of work to be done. While we want the game out as soon as possible, we don't want to rush it and deliver something that isn't at the level of quality we are happy with. The successful Greenlight campaign is definitely a one less thing to worry about, though!

As usual, we will keep you guys up to date with all the major features and milestones that we are going to complete... so stay tuned.

I'm the artist of this project btw.
