What say you, the thought of having a organized multiplayer event? Probably on the 20th, one week from now (as of 65 seconds ago, here on the West Coast), and every saturday or other thereafter. THIGNS TO DISCUSS: What games to play, optimal times for everybody, etc. List of elected games: Warsow ( Freeware) Starcraft: Brood War Alpha Centauri (On Home of the Underdogs)Unreal Tournament 2k4 Battle for Wesnoth ( Freeware) Starsiege: Tribes ( Freeware) Total Annihilation

Nine man free-for-all Wesnoth battle.
No doubt, that would be epic as fuck. Prepare to sit in a chair for 12 hours should you be so brave by accepting the challenge.

Links added to the first post . For good measure: http://www.warsow.net/Also, Alpha Centauri would probably take about 48 hours of playtime to complete, so, yeah, TBS strategy games are def. multi-game-day games. OH SNAP. HOTU doesn't have a download for Alpha Centauri. This saddens me!

I could never get into Wesnoth much. The battles just seemed to rely too much on the random factor, no matter how well positioned I tried to be, or how well I tried to manage my leveled units. I actually remember a guy making a guide to the factions, and when discussing some factions against some others, he'd go and say "you'll probably need a bit of luck too". In a strategy game, that kills the mood for me.

The combat is rooted in probability, but, for me, it doesn't ruin the experience or the strategy. I think it adds more depth, even, by knowing that you're not going to have a 100% guarantee with your moves. So, with that said, I think it's difficult to agree that it relies too much on a random factor. If anything, I'd say its biggest flaw is the close-to-impossible difficulty trying to make a comeback presents to you when your opponent(s) begin to dominate the map's village supply, though that's mostly a problem for me in a 1 v 1 match.

Personally, I believe using randomness to add depth is lazy design. It can be there to give a 'spice', sure, but in Wesnoth you CAN lose a match because of being unlucky. I know, it happened before to me AND my opponents.

What about Doom Co-Op? (Preferrably zdaemon) Or Urban Terror? Actually, now that I think of it, Tribes would be hella fun, too.

This is a great idea but I'd only be able to play the freeware games because I'm a cheapskate (though hopefully, I'm not alone in this!?).

Warsow looks pretty cool, the graphical style reminds me of Team Fortress. I'm not a hardcore FPS player but it might be fun to try anyway.

Installing Warsow today. If it's good, I'll be all for some multiplayer matches. Been missing a good shoot-out (you can only enjoy intelectual games for so long until your lust for blood picks up).

Hmm, should it be weekly, biweekly, or monthly? I think Bi-weekly would be best, personally.
Also, at what times can you guys make it? 2200GMT sound good? (2PM PST)

I really suck at calculating time zones. Can somebody link me to a guide or map or something? One of easy understanding?
