To the characters of this world, you, the player, represent the metaphysical concept of "fate" personified as a deity-like entity. The characters "look up" at you seeking your guidance to lead their destiny. During gameplay, the "look up" is triggered during your turn to signal to you that the character is ready to be commanded. Once you've ordered the character for that turn, they resume facing the battle.

Today I wanted to share with you some weapons for upcoming characters that are in development. Can you guess what sorts of characters might use these weapons in Summoners Fate?

Here are some playable quadrupeds that will featured in Summoners Fate. These include the ferocious Bear, with his huge, ripping claws; the armored Rat and Squirrel, the wild Wolf, and the savage Sabertooth.

Here's a Sketch of our upcoming banner for Summoners Fate!

To give perspective, the idea is Heroes vs. Monsters, with the logo in the middle. This art would be used for our splash screen (opening screen when the game launches), as well as marketing pieces, such as the website banner and promotional material. It is designed to scale/fit both landscape & portrait, wide screen, and 4:3 perspective. We really want the characters to feel representative of the final game art - not a bait & switch!

WE'D LOVE YOUR FEEDBACK! Specifically, we wonder if it achieves these objectives:

1. Does it convey the right message about the game?
2. Does it look badass/would it attract you to the game?
3. What can we do to improve - different characters, poses, emotions, etc.?

Examples of animation of jaws for Summoners Fate




Here is a video demonstrating the work our animator, Peter, and Ross have been doing to animate the characters' jaws in the game. As you will see, this helps to really bring the character to life, especially during idle times on the battlefield. This video will also give you a glimpse into a few characters we have not revealed yet, extra bonus!  Gentleman

There are 9 characters displayed:

- Flesh Golem
- Demon Lord
- Hellhound
- Cute Hellhound
- Snake
- Gnasher
- Red Dragon

Treant go Boom!

In this video, Ross, our founder & programmer, gave all of the Treants an ability where they explode on death. The initial attack triggers a cascade reaction of explosions, illustrating how the animation system handles concurrent events in a sequential order.

Welcome to the jungle! Tiger

Here is a snapshot of the Jungle Environment for Summoners Fate. This includes a new tileset, characters, and interesting traps, such as the barbed Brambles and the poisonous Spore Pods.

Along with the new snapshot of the jungle features, we have a new character - the Tribal Warrior. A little about this fighter:

She emerges deep from the jungle with her bejeweled club by her side. She wears the fur of the animal foes that dare cross her path. Fierce, strong, unflinching - she enters the battlefield of Summoners Fate, and after combating venomous snakes, brutal lizardmen, and deep jungle horrors, she will have no trouble slaughtering you...

The Samurai! About this Summoners Fate character:

He's bound by bushido - the "way of the warrior" - and enters the battlefield with morality and discipline on his mind. He brandishes his meticulously-crafted sword; he does not seek to raise his blade in violence - but he will not be dishonored...

Here is what will be a Hydra for Summoners Fate and the animation in progress we have been working on. To create this Hydra we first created a modular serpent neck that animates on an S curve. Then, we embedded multiple heads onto our quadruped armature and set them to random timers to look more fluid and organic. When we have the art, we will add that to the armature.

What do you think of the animation so far?  My Word!

We have an awesome art studio, and they gave us some choices for our upcoming Cyclops  Blink and our Ogre characters. They sketched some options - which do you think would be the best choice for these characters so we can tell them which design to finish?
