Supervising Programmer

Primarily aim to develop PC and console based games.

This is a remote contractor position with deferred compensation, not full-time employment, on our first game; an unannounced title based on Jessica’s life and work involving her and her family's experiences with child abuse. The game is an intensely personal narrative driven adventure game, and a form of recovery and closure for Jessica and her family.
Public Game PageWe are in need of a Supervising Programmer to join our team to oversee work done by our programmers. This person’s primary responsibilities will be to work with our other programmers to organize and plan the game’s core architecture, and also to ensure their work is of high quality by conducting code reviews and enforcing coding standards. They will also help develop code at times, and assist the communication between the programming and design teams to help ensure that clear expectations are maintained by all. This position is more management and communication heavy with production as a secondary duty.
There will typically be between 10-20 hours of work each week. You will be expected to participate in team channels and frequently attend video/voice conference calls for brainstorming, stand ups, and work.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize, Plan, and Document the game’s core architecture alongside our other programmers
- Collaborate and organize with the design team and technical team on game features
- Oversee engineers and help/guide them to meet their development goals
- Review code written by other developers regularly and ensure that quality and scheduling goals are met
- Manage and mentor less experienced programmers, including assigning tasks and reviewing work
- Facilitate communication between engineering, design, and art teams
REQUIREMENTS
- Roughly 3+ years of professional game development experience working on PC/console based games
- Experience with the Unity Engine and C#
- At least one shipped title developed in Unity where candidate led a team of programmers
- OR at least two shipped titles developed in Unity where candidate was sole developer
PLUSSES
- Experience with Technical Art including shader programming
- Experience with Developing for Consoles with the Unity Engine
