A cut scene for the stairs would be cool especially in the black and white game boy style.

If you do go for that you could also keep some stairs in the normal style. I think that leaves things open for creativity since you could come up with some creepy things that happen on the stairs themselves. Basically if you can do both somehow that would be cool.

Maybe, even for just one part in the game, as it's playing the stairs scene there could be an alternate part where you notice something off about the steps, then it jumps from the RE stairs back into action while you're still going up the stairs where something could happen?

The game is looking very cool by the way.

Heya,
Here is my first iteration of the RE style door transitions.



Admittedly, there is a LOT of work that needs to be done to make this look the way I envision.

This is simply the product of the technique I've been working on to simulate the 3d.

Meanwhile, the door doesn't even have a doorknob  Tongue

I'm also working on stairs and various other First Person Scenes (FPScenes).

Wow I'm just seeing this for the first time but you've totally got me hooked. This is looking great already. I like the text message system - I'd rather it be automatic and uncontrollable, personally. In this genre particularly, I think you need to decide what creates the atmosphere you want to achieve, and then make that unalterable, as much as possible.

This is some conceptual art, but the spirit of how this game will scare is present. I'm more into the surreal and unexpected more-so than plain-old body horror. Body horror will be present, but it ill not be the main focus. My philosophy is something along the lines of "seeing things you shouldn't be seeing."

Meanwhile, I finally have the story, gameplay, and central conflict all worked out. This means it is now time to release my DEMO!
