So, what do you get when you mix a roguelikelike/roguelikeless/roguelite(I think you got it), with side-scrolling and tamagochi sheeps? (wha? yes!)

Meet Transumanzia, a strange kind of herdventure!

Transumanzia comes from the portuguese word 'transumancia', which in english translates to 'transhumance'. It is the seasonal movement of cattle to search for better pastures in winter and summer.

In Transumanzia you play as a shepherd with an initial set of sheep. Each sheep has its own physical trait and sheep brain and personality. Your goal? Survive for as long as possible with the biggest herd you can manage.

Sheep grow, evolve, gain new abilities, have offspring, eat, doze off, chat and eventually, die. The way you guide your herd will determine how it grows. But enough about micro managing sheepersonality disorders, winter is coming and food will be scarce if we linger for too long, there is a mountain to climb if we are to survive. Let's go!

Today I worked on setting up the temperature of the world. It was a bit tricky because it doesnt depend only on the season but also on the altitude. So, winter is good at low places, and summer is good at high places.

in extreme temperatures, vegetation will start to die out and food disappears Smiley

so sorry for the awful programmer's art :x

Made loads of improvements today:
  • the sheep life-cycle is complete. sheep are born, learn, grow, and die
  • an indicator of the current temperature
  • beautify the sky a bit more: better sun and moon and rotating night sky

and a bunch of other smaller stuff.

Today is the first milestone, I'm releasing this super-early-alpha for my patrons https://www.patreon.com/posts/first-build-is-d-14016060

next months work (until the 2nd build is released) will be focused on implementing the "real" game parts, battles included xD

cheers!

hey!

I know it might sound ridiculous, but after almost a year, here I am again Tongue
the project is not dead, just went into long hibernation.
I'm resuming working on it now, and getting the battle system going

also, looking for a 2D artist(paid) to help me out: http://www.bitoutsidethebox.com/looking-for-a-2d-artist-for-transumanzia/

looking forward to do more posts soon :D

battle system is well underway (sorry, no gifs today).

I've now been thinking about the skill tree, and this is more or less how it will look like (removed text so not to spoil)

now I have a real fighter selection screen before the battle starts. sheep that are too far from the target sheep can not be selected to participate
