So I just watched the intro animation for Sonic Mania:

... and the part where Tails gives Sonic a boost made me think two things:

"Is that move in the game?"

"Actually, are there any games out that that are all about coop acrobatic platforming?"

Not just coop multiplayer platforming, like actual precise-timing coordinated platforming. Because that sounds like it could be a lot of fun. The nichest of niche, and probably only local multiplayer (because of the lag ruining any precise timing required), but when it works...

The nichest of niche

Why? With some bright colors, and relatively low difficulty level, this could be the next great idea for a game for the whole family, maybe even a party game. I think it's a brilliant idea: most coop platformers are more about playing the same game simultaneously, while this would be multiple people doing different actions at different times to achieve 1 goal.

Indeed... but even if lag were no problem, if think local coop is where this idea will really shine.

The Lost Vikings? Although not specifically acrobatic, you had to place on viking on top of the shield of another to access places.

Is "Platformer" in the traditional 2-D sense what you're looking for?

GunZ, CS Surf Maps aren't about "coop + acro" as in you support each other, but both have teams of players flying through the air and fighting.
