Hello! Been a while since I was here. Who am I? (Feel free to skip)I'm an animator at my own studio Good Motion and indie dev in my spare time. I have made and released one game in the past, Amazeface, devlog here. Get that and some jam games free here. What am I making?So I wanted to make a platformer for phones. I don't wanna do virtual joystick but I'm thinking I will try to bring some new ideas to the autorunner thing. I will get into more detail about what I mean by that later. You play as a little girl with a long ponytail running in a cute pixel art world kicking monsters in the face. What is the state of the game?I have a working prototype. You can attack enemies but right now they can't attack/hurt you. I'm working on that, it's a bit tricky to get the right feel and still have you keep running. Here's what it looks like at the moment: Feedback is very welcome!

Some process images for the first artwork. I started off using just Photoshop but then bought Aseprite and use it for the animations.

A quick touch input layout mockup, will probably go through changes. These fields will be invisible, but there will be buttons/icons for the black squares.

So I'm thinking you are a tiny girl but totally badass and kick enemies way bigger than you. There is a dash jump kick and a dash ground kick.. Anyway I'm not sure what exactly it is you are fighting but I'm thinking monsters. Here is one that I might keep working on.

Thank you Vampade! I have made some more animations, fly kick and tumble. Note that this is in no way an actual level just trying out animations, speed and spacing. Here's a (very) rough sketch I made while my son tried to steal my pen. I want to make it possible to do cool combos, hitting multiple enemies without touching the ground. I only use two main touch inputs, right side of screen and left. Left side is fly kick when in the air and slide kick when on ground. Right side is jump when on ground and "down kick" (like a ground pound kick) when in the air.

This is looking good, the style is well done. Looks like you are doing a good job blocking things out and mocking up ideas before getting too deep into anything. Are there going to be any blocker platforms in the game that you must jump on top of in order to not lose the level?

Thanks! I think the user will just keep moving right until you die. So no real walls, but probably pits that kill you instantly and enemies that take one heart. I want there to be different paths you reach based on your skill / curiosity. Will get back to that later. Really love the art style and colors. Here are some examples of enemies. Some you can jump on or kick from above but not kick from the front, spiked helmet guy must be kicked from the front etc.

Hi thefoolishbrave! It will not be endless. It will probably have different levels and a world map like a classic platformer. Funny that you mention giant bosses, I have actually been thinking about exactly that! I'm not sure how it would work in an auto runner though.. but I can probably come up with something.

I haven't had much time for this unfortunately but I have been making some progress today. I decided to make the main enemies bigger. I also animated Idle and Death states: This is what they look like in game: The final game will have different stages, an overworld map and, yes, giant bosses!
