This looks lovely.
As a fan of traditional fishing games...
I really like the idea of goblin pack hunting, too. Cheesy

Hmn, as for the ocean... I'm not sure...
Maybe have three kinds of ocean tiles, all uncrossable, that are in different spots of the map at different times/events? Well, whatever you choose, I am sure it'll be great. Smiley

I agree with the others commenting, totally channeling Link's Awakening aesthetics and I love the idea of a co-op farming sim! Are you in need of music for this project? Smiley

I will definitely start experimenting with something along those lines... (of making beach creatures)
Enjoy!

Coming up with tiny, simple creatures with their own little unique movement patterns can be a lot of fun! Also makes the world come alive.

The pack hunting for fishing is already a great example :D

I'm glad you like the game so far! The ocean tiles will certainly be improved and I do like the idea of some being uncrossable. Keep the ideas coming! This one will take a bit more work...

Thanks for the kind words! I have some music plans and am leaning towards creating some myself but nothing is set in stone yet. I appreciate the offer though!

Agreed! Smiley This leads me to my small update for today...

Tiny Beach Creatures

Somewhere on a distant beach...

The Crabini

I've been working on adding some life to our new beach biome and I present the newest little frontier friend, the crabini!

A tiny crustacean that can be caught if one is quick enough with a net. They even have been known to have healing properties in case you need to restore a bit of health...

More updates to come, but for now enjoy your weekend and stay tuned for more creatures!  Smiley

Aww... it's adorable! It looks really cute the way it crawls

Can I release them after capturing? Like, if I grab a bunch of them, can I drop them again in an enclosed space and have my own little crabini farm?

Some goblins have been known to do just that!

Crabini meat is primarily used as a cooking ingredient and the shells happen to make great bowls for stews or other meals.  Hand Fork Left Hand Knife Right

That would be awesome! Unfortunately though our voyage beyond our current 2D style will likely wait for another day...  Wink

It's official, Inktober 2019 is finally here!

What does this mean?

Throughout October we will be posting a first look into the life of goblins on the frontier depicted in 31 illustrations (based upon the official Inktober prompts):

Where is the best place to follow?

You can follow along with Inktober 2019 on Adventure Byte's Official Discord, Twitter, Instagram, or the Goblin Frontier website!

I am on the fence about posting each piece here (but let me know if you think I should!)

Rest assured development and posts will be continuing throughout the month Smiley

I'm excited for October and I hope you are too!

Did you draw that? Damn, I didn't expect you to be an illustrator! (nothing personal but I tend to expect the worst kind of programmer art from devlogs that only show pixel art, you know)

No worries, I am not much of an illustrator myself but my brother luckily is! He is hoping to help bring the world to life Smiley

goblin farmers i honour you

The farmers appreciate your kind words and want to prepare a feast to thank you!
But they'll need more than just vegetables to make a meal worthy of celebration, so they ask a friend for help...
