What do you guys think about using pretty low-res textures with nearest point filtering?
I like how it makes the scene blend into something cohesive.
I also like how it kind of adds more implied detail to the ground etc.

This is something i have been experimenting on with my new community-survival-sandbox game.

It looks really nice but I'm not sure the low res texture is doing anything there. It's not low res enough to be immediately noticeable. But that's judging from a still image, the effect could change ingame.

Looks pretty good- it actually kind of gives it a painterly feel.

The painted look is awesome, but the low res texture adds a layer of, well texture that causes too much noise in the art style.

What I am trying to say is that the art already has texture inherited from the brush strokes. Adding the blockiness of the pixels breaks that up. It is kind of like mixing together polka-dots on top of stripes. It also adds a perceived reduction in the quality of the hand-painted artwork.
