Hi everyone, I'm HOFFY. I'm looking forward to seeing how future development (as well as the game's music) will be received by TIG! It's been an honor to work on this so far.

This looks really cool! I love the contrasted and saturated art style you have going on right now. How does it work for someone to program their own level in this, or is it more of a graphical level editor?

Thanks PsycheMac! We're sticking pretty close to the NES palette which helps get that high contrast/saturated NES look. The game itself is like Super Mario Maker, so it's more of a graphical design tool where you place already made objects to make your stage. We plan to allow more stuff than Mario Maker, like overworlds to tie stages together, cut-scenes, and huge metroidvania style stages with maps and stuff. There's also some light visual scripting stuff you can do to control doors, platforms, enemy behavior, etc...
In the future, I'd like to open it up to skinning and modding tho, the modding would be done in C#, and the existing game styles are being done as "mods" anyway, so it should be pretty easy for somebody familiar with C# to add stuff.

First gameplay video is up. Also, we're giving away an SNES Classic to help spread the word about Super Retro Maker, see the website for details if you're interested.

Thanks guys, and shout out to Hoffy (@HoffyMusic) for the tunes! If anyone needs a chiptune composer, I highly recommend him. He's created almost an hour of music for the Super Retro Maker soundtrack so far!

I'm definitely down to give this a shot when it comes out. Have you worked/played with PICO-8 at all?
