What is it?
Age of Space is a tower defence versus game with deep ship customization and online multiplayer. You play as the commander of a huge capital spaceship and your job is to make tactical decisions in order to defeat the enemy commander.

There game is played in two different phases; First phase is the preparation phase where you configure your fleet. Every ship can be modified with your own set of modules, weapons and orders. The player will spend a lot of time refining the fleet setup and try out different approaches and hit the opponent with a superiour setup and battle plan.

Why devlog?
We've decided to give this a try and see what kind of feedback and value we can back from it. 

What's happened before this
The development was initiated January 2016 by Anders (Tiddan). At that point the game was planned to be a mobile game. For various reasons Anders decided to move over to the PC platform and expand the game from 2D to 3D in September 2016.

Anders continued to work on adding multiplayer support and rebuilding the framework to work in 3d. In August 2017 Andreas joined the team. Andreas is now working on modelling ships and environments for the game so that Anders can focus on coding the game.

So, I guess I'll kick it off with a screenshot from todays work:



We've been working a lot with VR lately so some of the UI for the Non-VR version is outdated. It's WIP but I already kind of like the simple and clean look. Also like mixing 2D and 3D elements in the UI (the asteroids also spins slowly).

Short update on last few days of development:

-Received a new bomber model that is implemented into the game.
-Fixed som UI problems.
-Made the game to a playable state again (No-VR).



Next:
-New VFX and explosions more fittable for a holographic presentation! Looking forward to doing this! Smiley

Thanks! It does work well in VR. Now I'm focusing on making it great without VR as well because that's how most people are going to play it Smiley

The final large explosion doesn't seem to originate from the ship itself, but rather from two points slightly above and below the ship, so that is a bit jarring to me.

Working on a new shader for our hologram ships. The shader consist of normal maps, curvature maps and some animated hologram lines.
