http://www.squidi.net/three/could produce comical results from squidi, who is notorious for attacking people who make things that resemble his ideas, despite not actually making any of his ideas

I was under the impression he was cool with it, so long as you said "Original Idea - by Squidi". He only seems to get angry when people make games which are, you know, identical to his, claim originality and make some mulah.
Though I could be wrong! A Squidi compo could be fun, though. I'd like to play some of those ideas.

He attacks the people who credit him, too.

Identical to his what? Blog posts? I can fill a phone book with game ideas too if I'd like and I'd be not one pence richer at the end.

I like the compo idea, but doing it to piss someone off isn't very nice.
I'll do it, in the name of love, not hate!

I used to be involved with and follow the webcomics scene. From those days, I remember little about Squidi except that he was generally a jackass and not worth my time. So to anything that would piss him off, but I'd probably abstain.

Think of it as, a few of his ideas are pretty neat and we'll sadly never get to play them unless we feel like pissing him off a little

Or we could just ask him if he'd be cool with it, as a gesture to a guy who, personality aside, tried to do something pretty interesting. It would be fun to make some of that stuff. No need to be mean-spirited about it.

He cant even attack/sue/attempt to discredit you. You cannot copyright an idea, only the expression.
If he doesnt want his ideas used, why does he even post them up?

Because he didn't think things through and over-reacts about things.

Sounds like a decent compo idea, it's best to be polite and nice to him, but if push comes to shove, we should make the games anyways for the sake of the resulting lulz alone.

He might not take legal action but there's a good chance he's gonna be a huge troll on the forums.
And we don't need another one of that.

Hello this is Pencerkoff Can I use these ideas for myself?
Yes, absolutely. No strings attached. That's from "about..." link on the side of that website. I don't think he'd mind having a whole video-gaming competition devoted to his ideas. My only issue I have with this whole thing is that about 80/100 of his ideas are Rougelikes, dungeon-crawls, and his obsession with negative space. I like some of his procedural generation ideas but most of them are just standard stuff with nice-looking flow-charts. I don't see a competition here. -PENCERKOFF
