There are these storks in Croatia...
They are called Klepetan and Malena. Klepetan is a boy stork who travels south every winter and Malena is a girl stork who got wounded by hunters about 20 years ago, so she stays with a human that saved her. Klepetan and Malena love each other and live together in their nest above the human's house. Every winter, Malena waits for Klepetan. Their love became a nationwide hit. Every spring, Croatians wait for Klepetan to come home. This year, a teacher I worked with promised her students that first one that brings her news about Klepetan's return, gets a chocolate. Three kids brought her the news at the same time, so they had to share chocolate. Radio, tv, internet - Klepetan and Malena were everywhere. Even our biggest water bottling company had a special edition bottle with Klepetan, Malena and a hashtag #samoljubav - just love - this tag is all the rage with all the cool kids in Croatia. Unfortunately, this year, Klepetan was late and possibly dead, and since all storks look like other storks, Malena let another stork move in with her. When Klepetan came home and saw the impostor, he had a huge fit of rage, threw their egg off the nest, but after a few days, all was well with Klepetan and Malena. They are together and in love once more. The owner of the company that made those Klepetan&Malena #samoljubav bottles now has an international warrant on him for financial malversations that cost Croatia possibly billions of Kunas in it's already struggling economy.
