Is making a devlog for an engine a thing?
yes and it's an opportunity to extend it to an eventual game. " slippery surfaces or treadmills, dash, area taking over the controls, and a surprisingly high amount of verticality for a top down game.jumps, ladders, free-fall from cliffs." This part is exciting Ok, so it's done! Doing levels, here are some assets designed specially for one level. Nice portrait! Just lack a bit of lighting.

A 3D shmup on the Z axis set in environments reminiscent of the 80s and here it is in motion (minus the starfield which doesn't render outside the editor for some reasons...) looking to get some feedbacks on the style and whatnot

That looks awesome. You might want to do some anti-aliasing to clean up the crunchy lines, or turn on mipmapping if they're textures, but it's really great so far. Also, the ship moves pretty slowly - making it move quicker through space forward would be great, I think. It seems really maneuverable on the other axes, so that's fine.

Didn't really fit any of the other major art threads: I made a fake 3D thing a while back after being inspired by someone else who did the same thing on here (Forget exactly what it was, but I remember it was like a snowy game where you played as a rabbit or something), and recently decided to revisit it and improve upon it a bit. Doubt I'll use it for anything, since it's kind of impractical for a real game. I'd have to do 8-directional sprites for things that don't use the "billboard" effect (Like the player's sprite, which I already had an 8-directional sprite for), and for big things like houses and whatnot, it'd likely look too jarring when rotating the camera. EDIT: Found the snowy rabbit game in question: https://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=46217.0

Working on a top down car game. Not sure what to do yet. Maybe split screen racing. I'm using physics to control the movement. It feels like driving on ice at the moment.

Looking really clean and polished! Another little thing you could do is set the cursor on the first usable item!

It looks great, but along the lines of the previous comment, it'd be cool if the cursor would move only between the highlighted items (aka the items that are equippable in that slot) so you wouldn't have to move one by one over other items. I don't really know how feasible that is because I'm an idiot when it comes to programming.
However, this is a very small detail that I don't think would actively be a detriment to a game if not implemented. It's one of those sorta polish things that will almost go unnoticed, but it feels nice.
