Hey!

First time being here, decided to start a developer log about my currently really early progress game developed in GameMaker: Studio 1.4.

My goal is to create a platformer game. What is it about? Well, depends on the players... or builders. I want this game focused on creating levels and sharing with others to playthrough. I want to focus on customization here so give the builders freedom. Of course, there will be limitations, but as the development progresses, it'll be less and less limited.

It'll be something like a Castlevania or Metroid style game, but I want to add different themes for tilesets, enemies and sound effects. And why not mixing them together?

Here are my current goals and achievements:
  • Create a very basic tile based platformer engine [DONE]
  • Add slopes, moving platforms [IN PROGRESS]
  • Add more advanced mechanics (acceleration, wall jump, double jump, etc...)
  • Well... maybe continue this list after the previous points are finished?

Currently, I'm struggling with the slopes. It's more difficult than it looks like. Hopefully, I'll figure it out. I mean, it works somewhat, but imperfectly. Funny thing is, many later to be implemented things look easier... In fact, they are easier to do.

Note: everything in this gif are placeholders.
